 Big Needs Items

Also view our supplies list here

We can always provide a letter for tax purposes of the donated goods and labor.

A new roof for our main building

We always need MONEY so we can purchase much needed supplies (if they are not donated), effect repairs and help animals in need!! You can contribute via PayPal, telephone credit charge, by mail or just come on into the shelter to drop it off and it truly helps.

Gravel – we need more gravel for our parking area – as much as we can get!

A bigger undertaking we would like to do is to cut back the “bank” that separates our parking lot from Hwy 9 and then reinforce it with timbers so as to make a ‘wall’ and increase the parking area in our parking lot. This could allow for diagonal parking and make traffic flow better while also reducing the possibility of fender benders in our often times congested parking lot. Any contractors out there that could help us with this???

Would love if an architect could help us design an addition to our front building that we could have kind of in our ‘hip pocket’ so as we work grants we could say we do have a plan. This would not need to be done in any hurry, so an architect or perhaps students of architecture in college could take their time to work on this with us. Our dream new addition would incorporate not only additional kennels to house more dogs, but a separate cat room so the cats would be in a more quiet and calm environment, and additional office type areas that we desperately need so we can work more efficiently.

We can always use automotive work for our vehicles – tune ups, maybe a repair now and then (understand we would need to pay for parts, but maybe they could sometimes donate labor depending on the job)

Newer pickup truck. Our pickup truck used for hauling donated items, etc is getting quite old and may be on its last legs. We can always use a newer one and a three-quarter size or larger would probably be best in the event we also get a horse trailer, so we can use it to pull the horse trailer.

Can always use decent chain link fencing – sometimes just pieces so we can make repairs. 6’ fencing the best for us.

Another storage shed wouldn’t hurt so we can secure equipment.

Would love an intercom system throughout the shelter kennel area to facilitate calling someone and to also have music in the kennel areas at times during the day (studies show this can help the mental health of the animals)

Would love a camera monitoring system in the shelter to ensure our volunteer/inmate help isn’t doing something they shouldn’t and to help keep an eye on someone accessing an area they are not authorized to be in.

If you can be of assistance with any of these please give us a call at the shelter at 334/567-3377 or email us at hselco@bellsouth.net
