BARK IN THE PARK 2008, Sunday, 28 September, Ft. Toulouse, Wetumpka

What a great day!  That easily sums up Bark in the Park 2008!  It was a gorgeous day with hundreds of people and their pets and just a great time had by all.   While Bark in the Park is a fund-raising event for our shelter, it is also a celebration of the bond between all of us animal lovers and our pets.  There aren’t many venues where over 800 people and likely 300-400 pets can come together for an afternoon of such fun. And to top it off, five of our adoptable dogs found their new families that day!

It takes a lot of people to make an event of this kind a success, and we thank each and every person who volunteered their time to help us set up and execute such a great day.

We cannot thank Ft. Toulouse enough for letting us have our event at their wonderful location and hope we left it as clean and nice as we found it.

Cecil & the Polyphonics" played great music all afternoon and really added to our event!

That so much of our area media came out to give us super coverage was truly appreciated, so thank you to WSFA-CH12, WLWI, Y102, MIX103, Wetumpka Herald, Montgomery Advertiser, Wetumpka City Pages.com and WAKA-CH8.

The Capital City Street Rod Association (www.montgomerystreetrods.com) again brought their awesome custom street rods for everyone to enjoy and we think they are a tremendous addition to our event.

Thanks to Dr. Hataway, DVM, and the Montgomery Alabama Dog Obedience Club (MADOC) Microchip Clinic, 33 more pets now have permanent identification to help them get back home if they are ever lost.

We hope the children had a lot of fun with the Children’s Games and we know the dogs all loved “Bone Mountain.”

For all of our pet owners, there was yummy food from the Trinity Episcopal Church Junior Youth Group and Sims Cajun Sno-Balls

.

We know everyone enjoyed all of the Pet Contests as you can see by all of these pics of our winners and participants:

Just like 2008, admission to Bark in the Park 2009 will be $5 for those 13 and older and we will have someone at the gate of Ft. Toulouse to take money and give you a map and schedule of the events.  We have also worked out a much improved parking plan to help alleviate the congestion at the gate!  All dogs must be leashed, good in public and have a current rabies tag on their collar in accordance with Alabama State Law.
