Even with the downpour on Saturday our three-day Adopt-a-Thon was an unequivocal success! FORTY, yes, FORTY of our great animals found their new homes last Fri, Sat & Sun! This is simply incredible and we couldn’t be happier. We also couldn’t have done this without the support of both the Prattville and Montgomery PETsMARTs and a host of fellow animal loving helpers. There are now forty very lucky pets enjoying their new lives thanks to staff members Ellen, Shelia, Claudia, Melissa and Jenefier; board members Charline, Lucia and Angie; and volunteers LeVonne Taylor; Tammy Turner; Jeanne Shamburger; Patricia Campbell; Lindsey Terry; Dee Griffin; Angie & Sheron Milton; Faith Cooper; Jasmine Johnson; Janet Baker; Paula Cardwell; Marsha, & Emely Von Almen; Patty Kaleta; Ken, Kristina, Shannon & John Sullivan; Amy Hall; Christina Russell; Wanda Sternberg; Connie & Conner Morrow; David & Alisha Seal; Wanda Sternberg; Christina Russell & Hubby; and Dawn Knight. Whew! And we are sure that every one of these volunteers would tell you it was well worth their time to help a deserving pet find its new home so our hats off to each of them for what we think was time well spent.

Last week we noted that the Montgomery Kennel Club had raised money to purchase Animal Resuscitative Masks for tri-county Fire Departments. These reusable mask sets will be placed on Fire Trucks to help save animals/pets involved in a fire. What we didn’t know then and want to share is that pets in the Millbrook area already had someone looking out for them as three sets of these masks were donated for the Millbrook fire trucks by Gerry & Lisa Martin in June of 2007. Thank you Gerry and Lisa for doing your part to help Millbrook pets in need! To learn more about these masks go to www.helpanimalsinc.org .

Looking a bit ahead - on Saturday, 17 May we will have a “Kitten Shower” at our shelter from 10 am – 2 pm. This is the brainchild of a great Girl Scout Troop since it is now kitten season with lots of kittens coming in and we have an increased need of supplies geared towards caring for all of these cats and kittens. The girls will also have refreshments for our visitors and we think it is just a great thing for them to do this for our kitties!

To help you purchase supplies for our “Kitten Shower” and other supplies that help us care for all of the animals that come through our doors we will have a Supply Drive at the Millbrook Wal-Mart on Saturday, 10 May, from 10 am – 2 pm. We will have the items we need most marked inside the store and our volunteers will be out front to receive these supplies and give you a tax donation sheet for your records. We appreciate the Millbrook Wal-Mart for supporting our work to help animals in need and hope for a large pre-Mother’s Day shopping crowd. And a Happy Mother’s Day to all the great mom’s out there!
