Directions:

Our shelter is located at 255 Central Plank Road (Hwy 9), Wetumpka, AL 36092. We are about 17 miles northeast of Montgomery just off of Hwy 231 North. We are located on Hwy 9 just off of its intersection with Hwy 231.

From Montgomery - take Hwy 231 north through Wetumpka. As you stay on 231 to the north side of town, you will cross through a large, traffic-lighted intersection where Hwy 14 crosses Hwy 231. A landmark as you go through this intersection is Russell Do-It-Yourself Center on the right. Stay on 231 north to the next intersection which is a three way, traffic-lighted intersection of Hwy 9 and Hwy 231. Hwy 9 goes off to the right towards Santuck and Central. Veer to the right onto Hwy 9 and our shelter is about a tenth of a mile on the left. We are right across the road from the Pardon's and Parole's Board LIFE Tech Center. Note - if you end up passing the Julia Tutwiller Prison for Women on the right side of Hwy 231 you have missed the turn off onto Hwy 9.

From north of Wetumpka coming south on Hwy 231 - as you are coming south on Hwy 231, you will pass the Julia Tutwiller Prison for Women on your left and the Elmore County Judicial Complex on your right, right before you come to the lighted intersection of Hwy 231 and Hwy 9. Turn left at the light onto Hwy 9 (north) towards Santuck and Central and our shelter is about a tenth of a mile on the left. We are right across the road from the Pardon's and Parole's Board LIFE Tech Center.

From Millbrook - take Hwy 14 all the way to Wetumpka and where Hwy 14 intersects Hwy 231 (it is traffic-lighted). Turn left (north) onto Hwy 231. A landmark as you turn through this intersection is Russell Do-It-Yourself Center on the right.

From Birmingham - take I-65 south. Exit at Exit 181 East on Hwy 14 to Millbrook and Wetumpka. Stay on 14 and follow the directions above from Millbrook. Take Hwy 14 all the way to Wetumpka (about 17 miles) and where Hwy 14 intersects Hwy 231 (it is traffic-lighted). Turn left (north) onto Hwy 231. A landmark as you turn through this intersection is Russell Do-It-Yourself Center on the right.

From Atlanta - DO NOT FOLLOW MAPQUEST DIRECTIONS WHICH WILL TAKE YOU ALL THE WAY TO MONTGOMERY AND ADD ABOUT 35 MILES TO YOUR TRIP! Take I-85 south from Atlanta. You will pass exits for Opelika, Auburn and Tuskegee. After the Tuskegee exits look for Exit 26 to Tallassee via Hwy 229. Exit on this to the right and stay on Hwy 229 north to Tallassee (about 10 miles). Stay on Hwy 229 through Tallassee crossing through the traffic-lighted intersection of Hwy 14 (going east back to Notasulga & Auburn) and Hwy 229. There will be a Rite-Aid and McDonalds at this intersection as landmarks. Continue north on Hwy 229 through Tallassee. As you are coming out of Tallassee on the north side, Hwy 229 will veer off to the right towards Kent and Lake Martin (it is also called Kent Rd at this point). Do NOT stay on 229 at this "V" but continue straight as it turns into Hwy 14 west to Wetumpka. Landmarks at this "V" are Johnny G's Barbecue on your left with a giant metal sculpture of a pig and a Citgo station in the middle of the "V." Stay on Hwy 14 to Wetumpka (about 15 miles) until it intersects with Hwy 231 (traffic-lighted intersection). At Hwy 231, turn right (north).
