Letter From Adopter:
Hi Rea!!
Capone is doing AWSOME!!!! He has a
yellow sqeeky ball that we have given him that is his favorite to say the
least... he even sleeps with it just in case we happen to want to play, so
he is always ready!! Or maybe it's because he got to pick it out himself at
Petsmart. I have some great pictures I need to get developed & will send as
soon as I do. You wouldn't believe how big he is... He weighed 118 lbs. at
his last visit to our vet & thinks he's a lap dog... LOL boy is that funny
to see especially with me!!!
I attached a few of the most recent
pictures, (the date's wrong on my camera) these were taken this past
Saturday while we were playing in the back yard. Just wait 'til I send you
the ones from my other camera... I promise to send them as soon as I get
them developed!!
I'll give him a BIG hug from you in
the morning during our morning routine! Throw the ball, get the food out,
throw the ball, scoop food, throw the ball, pour food, throw ball, put scoop
back, throw ball, change water (throwing ball about 3 times before done)
then treats and another throw before I have to leave. Oh, by the way you
don't get to just throw the ball, you have to act like you don't want to
before he'll give it up then it's a race to see who gets it 1st... LOL We
LOVE our Capone!!!!!!!!!
Thanks,
Amy

Dog having happy holiday
By Julie Arrington

The Christmas season is especially sweet this year for Joy
Evans, who created a happy ending for the sad story of Tripod the
dog.
Tripod came to the Elmore County Humane Shelter early in the
year, neglected and abused. His front paw was amputated, and his
leg was hanging across his chest. His face was infected, and one
of his ears was torn.
After months of care, Tripod was ready for a new home. Evans
saw his picture at the Wetumpka Wal-Mart and thought he looked
like her dog, Dozier, a St. Bernard-American Staffordshire terrier
mix.
Tripod and Dozier hit it off immediately, and so Evans decided
to become a two-canine household.
These days, Tripod not only has a new home but a new name --
Dude. (Evans noticed the dog responds to Dude, something he never
did with the moniker Tripod.)
Dude and Dozier spend their days watching "Animal Planet,"
which Evans flips on when she leaves for her job at the state
administrative court.
And under the tree this morning, Dude found a new Auburn
University collar, some Jumbones and a bag of pigs' ears.
"I just love him to death," Evans said.
