Dear Rea,
By 7pm, "Carter" will be at his new forever home. I picked him up from you  on December 1st along with "Harrison". Carter was a very thin dog with many bald patches. After gaining about 7 pounds and 6 dips for Sarcoptic and demodectic mange, he is now a new dog. The transformation is incredible. It took him about 4 days before he had the strength to lift his head up and look at us. Three weeks after having him, we asked, "who is that barking?" It was the first time we had heard his voice and the first time he played. The brother of Harrison's owner called animal control and said he was wandering around, but his sister didn't want him anymore anyway. He found his forever home a month ago. Harrison was housebroken from the day he walked into the house. He was a happy guy and we just kept asking, "what was so wrong with you that your owner didn't want you anymore?" We never figured that out.Rea, this is not just a celebration time for these dogs and Heart of Dixie Basset Hound Rescue. It is a time of celebration with you and the shelter. When shelters and rescues work together, these happy endings should be shared. Thank you so much to you and your awesome team members for helping us make forever homes for homeless bassets a reality.
